Lawmakers, Milwaukee Sheriff, MADD and Victim Families meet to discuss Legislative Changes
On Monday, December 15, 2008, Senator Alberta Darling hosted a meeting at her Menomonee Falls office. Attending the meeting were: Representative Peggy Krusick; Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr.; Deputy Inspector Ed Bailey of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office; Kari Kinnard, Executive Director of MADD Wisconsin; family members of Nancy Sellars; and Paul and Judy Jenkins, parents of Jennifer Bukosky. The group met to discuss changes in current OWI statutes.
Items on the agenda included criminalizing the 1st offense, sobriety checkpoints and mandatory minimum sentencing guidelines. This meeting was one of many ongoing discussions re changes in OWI legislation.
