Bukosky's Family Starts Anti-Drunk Driving Web Site

A family is taking their fight for tougher drunk driving laws to the web.

Jennifer Bukosky, her daughter and unborn child were killed in a car crash earlier this year. Police say Mark Benson was high on prescription drugs when his car slammed into Bukosky's.

Benson was about to jail for a third drunk driving conviction when the crash happened.

Bukosky's parents started the web site.

"We wanted to call attention to Wisconsin's OWI laws, which are pathetically weak," said Jennifer Bukosky's mother, Judy Jenkins.

They want people to sign a petition to put pressure on lawmakers to have tougher drunk driving laws.

"It is alarming out there, and I think it goes to the culture of the state of Wisconsin," says Paul Jenkins, Jennifer's father.

40,000 people were stopped for drunk driving in Wisconsin in 2007.

"It's scary to got out in the car anymore," states Judy. "Wisconsin families should be afraid. A lot people out there driving while impaired."

The amount of repeat drunk drivers arrested in 2007 in Southeastern Wisconsin increased by 33% in Milwaukee County and 40% in Ozaukee County.
