Milwaukee County sheriff warns of drunken drivers

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke calls the stretch of interstates around the city "Death Valley."

That's because of the large number of drunken drivers using the roads. Clarke says deputies make a drunken driving arrest every 59 minutes in that area.

He points to a map and says, "If you're in the zone right here, you're in a high risk of driving along with someone who's drunk."

The stretch includes portions of Interstates 43, 94 and 894 in the Milwaukee area.

More than 900 drunken driving arrests have been made in Milwaukee County so far this year, and Clarke says most were in "Death Valley."

He says most drunken driving stops happen during weekends and many people arrested have previous drunken driving convictions.
